Anna Egeressy

Training

Anna completed her Masters in Clinical Psychology at The University of Newcastle and her undergraduate BSS at the ACU Melbourne. She has undertaken advanced training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and attachment informed short term psychotherapy.
Anna is a member of the Australian Psychological Society, Clinical College and The Australian Clinical Psychology Association.

Clinical Experience
Anna has over 20 years of clinical experience working across the public and private sector with adults and adolescents in community and hospital settings. During this time she has co-developed and delivered inpatient CBT group programmes for dual diagnoses; a DBT outpatient programme for families and adolescents and other psycho education groups.

Anna encourages her patients to support their physical and mental health at different stages when navigating stressors and life transitions, such as childbirth, parenting, menopause, major illness and relationship changes. Anna uses evidence-based therapies from CBT to short term psychodynamic therapies to treat psychological problems associated with depression, grief, anxiety, trauma, and associated coping strategies of drug and alcohol use and eating disorders.

She has presented at national and international conferences specific to traumatic stress, law and mental health on the relationship between Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, trauma exposure and personality traits.

Anna is also a board approved supervisor and embeds reflective practice in teaching clinical skills to post graduate students. She has supervised students at the University of Sydney, University of Western Sydney and Macquarie University.

Interests
Anna has a keen interest in the family of origin and the quality and style of attachment relationships people develop during their development. She also encourages her patients at the same time to care for their physical and mental health and understand their capacity for change, improved quality of life, and relationship to themselves and others.

Anna works collaboratively with referring GPs, psychiatrists and other allied health professionals to optimise her patients’ care. She also enjoys working with boards and committees to promote and integrate psychological and physical health practices.
