The Family Assistance Program is a partnership between Sydney Clinical Psychology and Goodstart Early Learning Centres. The program aims to provide support to children and families at a time of need. Goodstart recognises that events may occur at Goodstart Centres that may have an impact on children that attend, or their family, and as a result they provide this program to assist at these times.
How do I access the Family Assistance Program?
Access is easy. You simply call this phone number 8580 0744 or email here fap@sydneyclinicalpsychology.com.au. Someone will return your call or email the same day. We will then look to arrange an appointment with you within the next five working days.
How much does the program cost?
Goodstart provides three sessions free for all eligible family members and children. Additional sessions may be available on request. Or alternatively if you need to continue to access help, we can discuss other options with you at the time.
What help can I expect to receive?
We focus on providing support that has been shown through scientific research to help children and families. That means the approaches we use have been subjected to rigorous scientific evaluation and the results published in academic journals. For this reason, you can be confident that you will receive the highest quality help when you access the Family Assistance Program.
Who will be providing the help?
Our clinical psychologists have extensive experience working with children and families. They have often worked in the public system for many years and gained a deep understanding of the problems faced by children and families.
Will my information be kept confidential?
GoodStart Early Learning Centres provides the funding for an initial number of sessions. As a result, we report back to them on how many people we have seen and for how many sessions. However, we provide no identifying information to GoodStart, or anybody else for that matter. You can be confident that your information will remain confidential.
Additionally, all psychologists are subject to the Australian Psychological Society Code of Ethics and the National Privacy Principles, and all data is stored confidentially in accordance with the same standards. In this way, you can be sure your confidentiality is protected to the highest level.
How will the help work?
We will arrange an initial session for you to speak to one of our clinical psychologists. This will probably be by video, unless you live close to one of our offices. You are welcome, of course, to attend face-to-face if you prefer. Generally we will meet with the family members (together??) first to discuss the difficulties. We may then meet with individual family members.
